Gay Dama Movie: Christopher And His Kind (2011)

Plot: ” In 1931 budding author Christopher Isherwood goes to Berlin at the invitation of his friend W. H. Auden for the gay sex that abounds in the city. Whilst working as an English teacher his housemates include bewigged old queen Gerald Hamilton and would-be actress Jean Ross,who sings tunelessly in a seedy cabaret club. They and others he meets get put into his stories. After a fling with sexy rent boy Caspar he falls for street sweeper Heinz,paying medical bills for the boy’s sickly mother, to the disapproval of her other son,Nazi Gerhardt. With Fascism rapidly rising Christopher returns to London with Heinz but is unable to prevent his return to Germany when his visa expires. Years later Christopher,now a successful writer,returns to Berlin for a final meeting with Heinz,now married with children.”

Why: This is perhaps the best T.V movie for LGBT people ever made to date. Watch the trailer here. This movie is somewhat hard to find, so i had to download the torrent for it.. I do plan on purchasing it soon enough! this is a wonderful movie based on the novel of the same name. It’s really interesting, and you should consider watching this, the characters are very unique. 

Gay Romantic-Drama Movie: Beautiful thing (1996)

Plot: “in a suburb of London, young Jamie is escaping sport hours, to avoid being the victim of his comrades. Young Ste, his neighbor, is beaten by his father, and comes to sleep overnight. They discover new feelings, sleeping in the same bed.”

Why: I loved the story line to this movie, it was quite refreshing. It was sad that Ste was being abused by his father and his brother durring the film. The only thing i was disappointed with was the fact that it had some open ends to it. At the end, Jamie is going to be moving with his mother to own a pub, but is he going to leave Ste behind with his abusive family, or is he going to ask him to come along? it never really says. The actors where wonderful, the shots where to. All in all this film is great! 

Gay Comedy Movie: Bear City (2010)

Plot: “Set in New York’s gay “bear” scene and taking a cue from the popular HBO franchise “Sex and the City,” BearCity follows a tight-knit pack of friends experiencing comical mishaps, emotionally sweet yet lusty romantic encounters and a cast of colorful, diverse characters as they gear up for a big party weekend.”

Why: This bear movie is so worth the watch. It’s so rare that you ever see this type of movie out there. Its hilarious and deals with a lot of problems the LGBT & bear community go through. Its soo true when they say its like comming out for a second time when you admit you like Bears. This is one bear movie to watch ! Im very happy to say that their will be a Bear City 2 coming out in 2012! They should make a #3 or a spin off and cast me in it! lmao

Gay Romantic-Horror Movie : Vampire Boys (2011)

Plot: “Jasin and his vampire brood’s time is running out. In order for them to survive, Jasin needs to find a mortal to turn into a vampire to spend eternity with. Los Angeles provides plenty of young candidates. The brood has their eyes set on Tara, a young, gorgeous blond college student. Tara is open to the idea of becoming a vampire, but someone else enters the picture to disrupt the brood’s plans. Caleb, a fresh face college student new to Los Angeles, keeps dreaming of a mysterious stranger. At school, Caleb meets the stranger, Jasin, and they have an instant connection. The problem is that time is short, and Jasin needs to convince Caleb that eternity as a vampire can be a very sweet life”

Why: This movie is quite corny for a vampire movie. Think of twilight meets the covenant but with tight shirts and less abstinence. Plot wise, this movie is great. The acting is so-so and the dream sequences are somewhat hard to tell apart from the rest of the movie. The over all theme of romance and vampirism of this movie is interesting, different then most vampire movies. I have been wanting to see a gay vampire movie for so long and it was  a little disappointing. Although this movie has had a lot of bad reviews on the internet I still recommend watching  it. I’m still awaiting for that one Gay vampire movie that will be amazing! 

 

 

 

Gay Comedic-Drama Movie: The Fluffer (2001)

 

Plot: ” The story, set in the world of adult entertainment, centers around three characters: Johnny Rebel, a straight man who has become a star in the world of gay porn; Johnny’s stripper girlfriend Babylon; and Sean, a naive young man in love with Johnny, who ends up becoming Johnny’s “fluffer”. ”

Why: Things get so messed up when you love some one who is a Gay For Pay Pornography actor. This movie is quite intriguing. I love the characters, the divers stories and depth of them. I love how a Camera man looking for work is turned into a fluffer for the very actor he obsessed about and set out to meet. This is a great movie to watch on a Sunday night. 

~ Be aware that this movie is 18+ and sexual. 

Gay Comedy Movie : Dorian Blues (2004)

Plot: ” Coming-of-age. A small-town young man who realizes why he’s such a misfit – he’s gay! Adolescence is proving a pain for the always-thinking Dorian. He’s an outcast and the butt of classmates’ fag jokes at high school. He’s different and understands why when he reaches the conclusion that he’s a “stereotypical gay.” He soon announces this discovery to his homophobic, Nixon-loving dad. Before dad can throw him out of the house, Dorian’s off to NYU where our hero encounters a new world of coffee houses, sophisticates and handsome men. ”

Why: I have no true opinion about this movie, good or bad. it’s just an average story about a queen trying to find love, acceptance, his place in the world?  nothing to special, but a good movie to watch any way. Honestly out of all the movies ive seen this is sort of the worst “comedy” ive ever seen. their too much material in it, its more of a T.V series then a movie, to my opinion that is. 

Gay Romantic Comedy : Is It Just Me? (2010)

Plot: ” Frustrated by his ongoing failure to meet Mr. Right, Blaine stumbles upon what might be his perfect match in an online chat room-Xander, a sweet, hunky guy who’s recently moved to LA. Smitten, Blaine then finds that he’s been chatting to Xander under his go-go dancer roommate’s profile, setting in motion a convoluted comedy of errors with romance as the ultimate objective. ”

Why:  I often feel the same way as Blaine in this movie. I always wonder if there is any one out there that isn’t just looking for sex, a one night stand or a five minute fling? This movie is absolutely hilarious, very romantic and has a good story line/moral to it. If you love romantic comedies then I really suggest you watch this one!

P.S I love Texan accents too LOL

Gay Romance Movie : Lilies (1996)

Plot: “In 1952 Québec, Bishop Jean Bilodeau is taking the last confession of an inmate in a prison. The bishop, locked in the confessional, is instead treated to a morality play orchestrated by the inmate and the chaplain of the prison and acted by the hardened inmates at the prison. The play shows the life of the bishop in 1912 when he and the inmate, named Simon Doucette, were fellow students at a Catholic boys school. They were once best friends. Simon and another student named Vallier began a homosexual relationship, one where Vallier was more open about his true feelings. Simon, repressing his feelings, instead began a relationship with a visiting woman named Lydie-Anne, the two who planned to move away from the town once they were married. Ultimately, the play shows Bilodeau’s interaction with the group and his role in Simon’s incarceration.”

why: To my personal taste this movie is frankly The most Original LGBT movie out there. The way the film is composed and shot is simply marvelous. The contrast between past and present is very original and the way that it is presented is just amazing. The actors where wonderful in each of their parts. The romance and drama of the piece is authentic,  beautiful and saddening. You Simply must watch this movie. Dont watch the trailers found online, they make the movie seem like a piece of shit. 

Gay Drama Movie : American Beauty (1999)

Plot: “Lester Burnham, a depressed suburban father in a mid-life crisis, decides to turn his hectic life around after developing an infatuation for his daughter’s attractive friend”

Why: This movie may not be a full-blown LGBT themed movie, but it does deserve some glory for having a touch of it.

I really loved this movie, it was interesting to see the evolution of each of the characters throughout the movie. It starts out with rather depressing characters and as the plot unravels itself it becomes somewhat enjoyable, and suddenly its struck by a touch of tragedy, literally going out with a Bang! 

Gay Drama Movie : Shank (2009)

Plot : ” Though gang member Cal (Wayne Virgo) hides his sexuality, he secretly yearns for fellow thug Jonno (Tom Bott). But after Cal saves Olivier (Marc Laurent), the victim of a gay-bashing by the gang, he embarks on a tender romance with the gentle student. Now the gang’s manipulative leader, Nessa (Alice Payne), is out for revenge. Simon Pearce makes his directorial debut with this gritty British drama.”

Why: This is an amazing movie! 

The tittle may make it seem like a cliché prison movie about murder, But really it’s not! It’s the most powerful gay drama movie that i have ever watched. The casting was absolutely wonderful, the emotions the actors brought to the screen was simply amazing. This movie actually makes me kind of scared of the UK now, well its youth baha! This is one movie that you have to watch, and if you have Netflix, it’s on there.

P.S, the trailers online, are crap, compared to the movie. I love TLA, they make very good movies!
